Classic Nia:  Participants will experience the joy of movement through teacher-led routines designed and published by The Nia Technique. Movement forms are drawn from Healing Arts (Yoga, Feldenkrais, and The Alexander Technique), Dance Arts (Jazz, Lyrical/Modern, and Duncan), and Martial Arts (Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, and Tai Chi).  Choreography is designed to move the 13 primary joints and 20 digits and based upon “the body’s way”. Choreography can be adapted to address the specific needs of each participant’s body.

Moving to Heal:  Classes are based upon the same movement forms and cycles of Classic Nia, but the emphasis is on healing of the mind, body, and spirit.  The pace and choreography are typically less intense with a mindfulness-based quality. Mylissa often draws from Sacred Circle Dance (repetitive and meditative music and movement from different cultures around the world).  She often adapts and/or designs choreography for music from her extensive personal collection.
